OUR BENEFICIARIES
FOUR ORGANISATIONS.
ONE SHARED PURPOSE.
.Starting a conversation matters. So does knowing where that conversation can lead.
Smile in the Dirt supports Lighthouse Charity, Mates in Mind, Mindflow and The Brave & Determined Charity. Their work covers different parts of the picture — from helping individuals access support to changing how mental health is approached across construction.
By bringing attention to all four, we want to help people find support and encourage the industry to take better care of its people.
SUPPORT FOR CONSTRUCTION WORKERS AND THEIR FAMILIEs
The pressures of construction don’t always stay on site. They can affect our health, relationships, finances and life at home.
Lighthouse Charity provides free support for the emotional, physical and financial wellbeing of construction workers and their families across the UK and Ireland.
Its services include round-the-clock support, a wellbeing app, local Lighthouse Beacons and training through its Wellbeing Academy.
BUILDING BETTER MENTAL HEALTH AT WORK
Looking after mental health needs to be part of everyday working life.
Mates in Mind helps organisations understand and address the causes of poor mental health at work, with a particular focus on construction and related industries.
Through training, guidance, research and campaigning, it helps businesses build healthier workplaces where people feel able to speak openly and problems are addressed earlier.
PUTTING MENTAL HEALTH AT THE HEART OF CONSTRUCTION
Mindflow works to make mental wellbeing part of construction’s everyday culture.
Combining on-site engagement, football-powered outreach and industry advocacy, the charity helps open up conversations and pushes for better mental health standards across the sector.
Its Mental Health Charter gives construction organisations a framework for turning good intentions into practical action.
HELPING PEOPLE ACCESS COUNSELLING EARLIER
You shouldn’t have to wait until things become overwhelming before asking for support.
The Brave & Determined Charity funds access to early intervention counselling for people experiencing mental health challenges across England.
Its work helps people take that first step towards professional support, whatever their background or line of work.
We empower this manager to maintain proactive client dialogue, demonstrating our accountability while anticipating emerging needs with tailored solutions.
